What Is The Vortex ?
Vortex Is The World's Most Powerful Cleaning Machine. The Vortex is an inventor's dream of a better cleaning machine come true. The Vortex is the only mass produced mobile cleaning machine in the world capable of safely capturing wasted energy from its own engine exhaust to heat water. Additionally, the machine's high-torque, high-efficiency power plant allows three operators to clean from one machine simultaneously, while decreasing fuel consumption by over 40% and improving textile dry times by over 47%.

Brute Power. All major textile manufacturers are in agreement that “hot water extraction with maximum moisture and residue removal” is the right way to take care of their goods. This is where brute power comes into play. More vacuum means a better clean, faster drying, faster cleaning, and much happier clients than your competition has. More vacuum means you can use more hot water in the cleaning process* and still beat the competition hands down on dry times. (Some Vortex owners have a "dry when we leave your home" policy with the help of carpet fans!)
More vacuum means more money in your pocket. There’s no two ways about it. The Vortex machine uses the largest, most powerful blower of any mass produced PTO cleaning machine in the world. From left to right the blower sizes are #3, #4, #5, and #6. The industry standard is a #4 size blower. The Vortex 7000 HAT uses a much larger, high performance #6 blower.
*Vortex owners are able to provide a method of cleaning commonly referred to as an "On Location Carpet Washing Service" by increasing the amount of water used in the cleaning process to double that of industry standard. The Vortex vacuum pump has more than enough power to recover the additional water and still provide significantly faster dry times than the competition.

The World's Most Powerful Cleaning Machine Is Also The Quietest.
The model 7000 HAT is the only cleaning machine in the world equipped with the Tuthill "Harmonics and Attenuation Tuned" blower. The 7000 is bigger, 35% queiter, requires less maintenance and runs optimally at only 69.1% of it's capacity ~ compared to over 85% before! Vortex is always ahead of the competition. Isn't it time you stepped up the profitability and power of your business?

How Does The Vortex Work?
|
|
The Vortex machine is powered from the truck's diesel engine and the water used for cleaning is heated from the truck's exhaust pipe. To operate the Vortex you simply leave the truck engine running with the transmission in park, engage the Vortex PTO (Power Take Off) from the Vortex instrument/control panel and adjust your cleaning settings. The Power Take Off is mounted to the truck's automatic transmission and transfers the energy from the diesel engine to the vacuum pump, water pump and Xentherm fluid transfer pump via a series of shaft, belts, and pulleys.

|
Vortex patented technology changed the cleaning industry forever. Some owners call the BIG Truck a "new revolution in cleaning". We call it Xentherm. (Pronounced "Zentherm")
Before the introduction of the Vortex, PTO cleaning machines were limited on the amount of energy they could collect from the van's engine for heating water. This was because there was no system in existence that could collect the wasted energy of the truck's exhaust system without potentially freezing the heat exchangers, or having to re-route the vehicle's exhaust system into the body of the truck or near the operator.
|
|
Here's how it works: The truck engine stays running to power the cleaning machine. As the truck's engine exhaust gas leaves the truck muffler it is re-routed into a heat exchanger mounted under the truck. This heat exchanger is full of a high temperature synthetic fluid called Xentherm. As the hot exhaust passes through the heat exchanger tubes, the Xentherm fluid is heated up. The fluid is then pumped to the machine to be used to heat the water for cleaning. A high temperature liquid transfer pump (Xentherm Pump) continually circulates the fluid between the heat exchanger under the truck and the heat exchanger on the machine. The exchange of energy under the truck is hot exhaust gas to Xentherm fluid. The exchange of energy at the machine is Xentherm fluid to water which is then used for cleaning. Xentherm fluid cannot freeze because it is an oil. Read more about the Xentherm heat transfer system

| Where Did The Vortex Come From? |
|
Shawn L. York, inventor of the Vortex started his carpet cleaning business in 1989 with a Toyota pickup and a Bane-Clean portable carpet cleaning machine.
The Vortex story is one of a carpet cleaner turned inventor. The Vortex is the inventor's dream of a better cleaning machine come true. Simple, rugged and very powerful -- it's designed the only way cleaning equipment should be designed. From the perspective of someone who actually uses it. In Shawn's own words:
"When it came time to buy equipment for my cleaning business, I didn't intend to cut corners. The "right tool for the right job" was my goal. After five years, I built my business to a seven-truck operation doing both water damage and textile cleaning. When I bought my machines, I was told they were rugged and reliable and that they could run two wands at once, but it just didn't have the vacuum and hot water to pull it off. And I had become a part time mechanic for my own business, taking calls from technicians at four am with problems.
My local distributor did provide me excellent service as promised during daylight hours, but my dilemma was not due to a lack of service. The best service in the world has no value when the truck is sitting in the shop. And running dual wands was out of the question- there just wasn't enough hot water and vacuum.
Carpet cleaning is a competitive business and I knew that to compete I needed something different. I needed equipment with enough hot water and vacuum to run two wands. I needed equipment that I didn't have to worry about. I needed equipment that outperformed my competition. I needed something different.
I decided to build my own machine and I knew that to be successful I had to take a look outside the box. I had to look at industries and equipment other than carpet cleaning. I found exactly what I was looking for in 1994 when I located and engaged the engineering and fabrication services of Ronald Rasmessun of R-Co in Draper Utah. R-Co’s innovation and expertise have earned them the title of “pioneers” in the industrial semi blower business for almost three decades. This was certainly an industry with a track record of more severe conditions than carpet cleaning! No component was too good or too expensive because I knew how much it cost me to lose a days work. And I could make the payment on a truck for what a single day of downtime cost me. I made sure that every single component on my machine was the best there was. I was on a mission. There were no compromises. One more day of downtime was one day short of my goal.
The first truck I built became the only truck in my entire fleet that I could trust. This was the truck I sent out after hours if I wanted to get a full night's sleep. I knew I had something extraordinary when my technicians started arguing over who got to use it.
Our success story is the success story of a team. It’s cutting-edge innovation from the best of the best. Innovation from vendors, our engineers, our employees and particularly our customers where the latest and greatest ideas for improvement really come from.”
The Vortex is Pure Red-Blooded American Innovation. Our business building tools are creativity at its best. Owning "The BIG Truck" is a "once in a lifetime" financial opportunity. You owe it to yourself to take a closer look! Just ask anyone who owns a Vortex.
